Dance Installation and Choreography for Labyrint at Kaleidoskop K2, Copenhagen

Recoil Performance Group, Spring 2008

A reactive floorprojection for a Recoil Performance Group dance performance/installation. Developed with choreographer Tina Tarpgaard and programmer Jonas Jongejan. The installation was part of a larger installation and modern dance performance by Tim Rushton, Danish Dance Theatre called Labyrint. We used processing for the infrared blobtracking of the dancers and drawing the open gl graphics. During the performance Tina controlled the whole thing live from an Isadora-based interface via osc.

Loudcrowd preview by Conduit Labs

From Conduit Labs:

Conduit Labs is a stealth mode group of creative hackers in the heart of Cambridge, MA. Conduit was founded by a combination of web entrepreneurs and social gaming pioneers; leaders in the development of Rock Band, Lord of the Rings Online, Guitar Hero, Asheron’s Call and Ambient Devices. We’ve got funding, ambition, and plenty of coffee in our quest to build a new kind of flash-based social gaming.

And You Don’t Stop: 30 Years of Hip Hop (pt. 5)

Video description:

Covers hip-hop’s birth in an impoverished section of the Bronx, exploring the music’s roots, the establishment of the four elements of hip-hop culture: rapping, DJing, break-dancing and graffiti. By the end of the hour, hip-hop will transcend the Bronx and cross-over into disco and pop, ignite controversy between some of its stars and become an unexpectedly potent form of political expression and social commentary. Features Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, Sugarhill Gang, Eddie Cheba, and others.

RCRD LBL: Contest – Win tickets to see the DFA crew at MoMA, March 1st

From RCRD LBL:

We don’t know what’s going on with museums in NYC, but we’re not complaining. Our bros over at DFA and the Museum of Modern Art are hosting an amazing party this Saturday, in conjunction with the museum’s Pop Rally series of events. To celebrate their upcoming exposition Color Chart: Reinventing Color, 1950 to Today, MoMA have invited (wait for it) The Juan Maclean, T&T (Tim Goldsworthy and Tim Sweeney), Holy Ghost!, Justin Miller and our very own Jacques Renault to DJ the festivities. An exposition on the evolution of color and DFA? Sounds like the LCD Soundsystem “Movement” video all over again, are we right?

Since we figured you guys would be stoked, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the event. Keep in mind, tickets are only available at the museum box office, so having a pair ahead of time gives a certain party time advantage. To win tickets, send an email with your info to contests@rcrdlbl.com (make sure to put “DFA MOMA PARTY” in the subject). The winner will be chosen at random. Oh, and you have to be 21+.
